Basement Transformation in Pleasantville, NY

Challenge

These Pleasantville, NY homeowners were dissatisfied with their unfinished basement. With stone walls and concrete floors, the space was too dark and cold to use for anything but storage. The homeowners finally decided that they wanted to transform their unfinished basement into a beautiful new living space. They previously had their basement waterproofed by Connecticut Basement Systems and knew that the company had a division devoted to basement finishing, so they reached out to the experts at Total Basement Finishing to help them get the most out of their home.

Solution

On the day of the appointment, Sales Representative Vincent Orsini arrived at the home to inspect the basement. After his assessment, he could see that it had the potential to be transformed into a truly beautiful new part of the home. Vincent had some solutions in mind and proposed several products to the homeowners which could help reinvent their basement. After discussing their options, the homeowners decided to move forward with the project.

Production started soon after, with Foreman Tom Connelly leading a crew into the basement to begin the transformation. They quickly installed EverLast Walls throughout the basement, which the homeowner had chosen for their durability and superior insulating power. Made of rigid foam insulation with a vinyl surface-treated concrete cladding, these wall panels eliminate the need for fiberglass batts and are 197% stronger than drywall. Without the need for fiberglass batts, the crew as able to install the walls quickly and effectively.

With the walls in place, the crew began to tackle smaller details of the job. Metal support posts running from the ceiling to the floor would be eyesores in the otherwise finished basement, so the crew concealed them behind smaller portions of EverLast panels. The unfinished stairs in the basement had previously been made of untreated wood but became unrecognizable. The tops of the steps were painted a deep red color, with the bannister and the rest of the stairs painted white. The crew even cut the bottom stair so that it fit neatly over a nearby doorstep.

With these final touches the crew complete the basement and wrapped up production. The homeowners could not believe how their basement had been transformed, and were excited to enjoy their comfortable new living space.
