EverLast and TBF Ceiling Tiles in Ashford, CT
Challenge
This Ashford, CT homeowner’s basement used to be a cluttered and uninviting part of his home. It was cold, dark, and had become heavily cluttered over time. Since the downstairs space was not livable, the homeowner had not used it for much other than storage. He wanted to transform this dingy area into a beautiful part of his home, so he reached out to the experts at Total Basement Finishing for assistance.
Solution
On the day of the appointment, Sales Representative Vin Orsini traveled to the home to survey the basement. Although some parts of the basement were partially finished, Vin could see that the walls and flooring needed to be replaced. Much of the basement floor was simply cold concrete, while the carpeted portions were worn thin and peeling at the edges. Some walls were also unfinished, and some were covered with outdated wood paneling, which is vulnerable to water damage and mold growth in the basement. Vin explained his findings to the homeowner and suggested some possible solutions that would help transform his basement. After some discussion, the homeowner agreed with Vin’s assessment and decided to move forward with the project.
Foreman Wayne Miller and his crew arrived on the day of production to begin their work. They began by removing the outdated basement walls, which the homeowner had decided to replace with EverLast walls. Made from 2 ½ inch thick rigid foam insulation and a ½ inch thick concrete cladding, these walls offer many advantages that traditional drywall does not. The rigid foam component provides an R-value of at least R-13, which eliminates the need for fiberglass batts and makes for speedy installation. The concrete cladding is finished with a durable vinyl surface treatment that makes EverLast 197% stronger than drywall. These walls are also specifically designed for the basement, as they cannot be damaged by moisture and will not support mold growth – which is why they are backed by a 50-year transferable warranty. With their aesthetic look and functional appeal, EverLast walls are the perfect fit for any basement.
Next, the crew installed TBF Ceiling Tiles throughout the basement. The homeowner selected the “Linen Stone Wool Ceiling Tile,” which brightens the basement and gives it a clean, finished look. Much like EverLast, these ceiling tiles are specifically designed for basement use. They will always maintain their rigid shape and come with a 30-year warranty against sagging and mold growth. Ceiling tiles are also convenient because they provide a finished look without blocking off access to plumbing or electrical wiring overhead. If you need to perform maintenance overhead, you can simply remove a tile and put it back in place when you are done.
Finally, the crew installed ThermalDry flooring in Sandstone Gray, which the homeowner had chosen for its aesthetic appeal as well as its practical benefits. ThermalDry flooring comes in 1’x1’ square tiles that attach to one another with interlocking joints. This makes installation quick and simple, plus allows homeowners to replace damaged tiles with ease. Each piece is supported by small plastic pegs, which elevate the tile above the concrete. This creates a thermal break between the concrete and your flooring, keeping ThermalDry 8-10 degrees warmer than the cold concrete all the time. ThermalDry – like all Total Basement Finishing Products – is as beautiful as it is functional.
The crew wrapped up production and the homeowner was shocked to see how his basement had been transformed. Once a musty storage area, his basement had become as comfortable and beautiful as the rest of his home. He was excited by the results and could not wait to enjoy his new basement for years to come.
